Therapy Services

Occupational Therapy Department providing O/T service to Cirencester and Fairford Hospitals. The Department receives referrals on an inpatient and outpatient basis and works closely with ARU in providing a service to outpatients. There is a Generic Rehabilitation Assistant scheme based in the Department, jointly managed by Physios and O/Ts, which enables patients to reach their full potential in their own home with the assistance of trained rehabilitation assistants, thus helping to reduce patient's length of stay in hospital. The O/Ts also undertake splinting on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Physiotherapy outpatient service available Mon-Fri, 09.00 - 16.30 hrs and on some days 08.00 - 17.30 hrs. Referrals are received from GPs, consultants and other health professionals, eg Podiatrists, Midwives, etc. We also accept self-referrals from patients as appropriate. Most referrals are musculo skeletal and we have physiotherapists who specialize in particular areas of this field, eg hands, and chronic pain. We also have Physiotherapists who have specialized in the following areas: - women's health and continence, vestibular rehabilitation, hyperventilation.

The rehabilitation team offers a weekday physiotherapy service to inpatient, outpatient and home-based clients. Following assessment we provide individual sessions and, in conjunction with the Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit, Falls Prevention and Parkinsons Disease group programmes. We also offer specialist neurological physiotherapy and community physiotherapy for those clients most appropriately treatment in their own environment.
