Minor Injuries Closes at Fairford

22/02/2006

Fairford Hospital ’s minor injuries unit is set to close from 1 March 2006, as part of planned changes to health services in the area.

On 10 January this year, Cotswold and Vale Primary Care Trust (PCT), which owns Fairford Hospital, agreed to close the hospital’s inpatient beds and move patients to Cirencester Hospital.

Fairford Hospital will remain open, and will offer enhanced outpatient services, while the PCT works towards building a new Fairford ‘health campus’ with a partner organisation over the next two years.

With only a small number of inpatients still remaining at Fairford Hospital, and the majority of staff in the process of relocating to Cirencester Hospital, the nurse-led minor injuries unit will close from the beginning of next month.

The nearest casualty department is at Cirencester Hospital. Casualty is open 24 hours a day, with a doctor available at all times. Patients can also contact the GP out of hours service on 08454 220220.
