Wednesday 27 April, Memorial Hall, Lechlade
Wednesday 11 May, Community Centre, Fairford
Residents of Fairford and Lechlade have been telling their local health NHS about the health services that matter most to them.
They have listed home support for older people, GPs and nurses, and more outpatient clinics as the top three priorities for local health care.
Around 40 local people got involved in the launch event of Who Cares?, organised by Cotswold and Vale Primary Care Trust and sponsored by the Friends of Fairford Hospital.
The Trust is looking at the health services provided for local residents, and is inviting anyone who is interested to come along to one of the public events planned for 27 April and 11 May.
“We had a fantastic launch event at the end of February, with a lot of useful discussion between health and social staff and local residents,” said Cotswold and Vale Chief Executive, Richard James.
“We found, for example, that, while most people were in favour of more care at home, some were concerned about how we would fund this, and whether it would put an extra strain on the family.
“People were prepared to travel for specialist care, but were keen to see more services – such as outpatient clinics – developed at Fairford Hospital.
“Last year, as part of the Fairford Forward project carried out by Cotswold District Council, outpatient clinics were also highlighted as a priority, along with better access to NHS dentists.”
Anyone interested in joining the discussions is welcome to come to one of the public meetings. These will take place at 10am and 6.30pm on Wednesday 27 April at the Memorial Hall in Lechlade, and at 10am and 6.30pm on Wednesday 11th May at the Community Centre in Fairford.
