North Cotswolds to benefit from extra nursing staff
31/10/05
Health officials at Cotswold and Vale Primary Care Trust announced today that they have successfully recruited a number of qualified nurses and healthcare assistants to work in Bourton and Moreton following a national and local advertising campaign.
Matron manager, Julie Goodenough, says, "In the recent past, we have had great difficulty in attracting nursing staff to the area, possibly because of the high property prices. It's gratifying to think that new people recognise the high quality of care we deliver in this area - and that they want to be a part of it. I think innovative ways of offering flexible working have made it a particularly attractive proposition. This will relieve the pressure created by high dependency need patients"
One of the new initiatives in the North Cotswolds is a pilot rotational post with qualified nurses working both in the Community and the Community Hospitals. Julie added, "I think this more flexible approach offers better opportunities for staff learning and means patients receive high standards of care in the home and hospital".
