A Future for Tetbury Hospital

28/09/05

Cotswold and Vale Primary Care Trust (PCT) and the Trustees of Tetbury Hospital are working together to plan a healthy future for the hospital.

The PCT announced earlier this month that, from January, it would no longer commission (pay for) the hospital's six consultant inpatient beds. The Trustees of Tetbury Hospital said that this would mean the remaining GP beds would be put at risk.

The Trustees, local GPs and the PCT wish to ensure that as wide a range as possible of outpatient and diagnostic services continues to be provided in the town, including new services where possible. This would mean that more local people can receive treatment closer to home.

The GPs, the PCT and the Trustees of Tetbury Hospital want to involve the local community in planning for the future. Throughout October, there will be various opportunities for people to have their say.

Copies of the report detailing why changes are needed and how the hospital might look in the future are being delivered to households in and around Tetbury early next week.

The PCT and Trustees will be organising a further public event, and will be working with groups of interested local people on future planning.

Anyone interested in finding out more about Tetbury Hospital future planning can visit www.cotsvalepct.org.uk, or email questions@cotsvalepct.nhs.uk, or call 01285 884694.
